Ted Ries
Board Member, Treasurer and Sustainable Development Advisor
Ted Ries has a background in investment and finance, with a strong emphasis on fund management. Through his roles with Darby Asset Management and Terrapin Palisades Ventures New Zealand, he has been instrumental in establishing New Zealand Land Funds 1 and 2, which collectively raised over NZD 265 million, predominantly from overseas investors. Fund investments include world-class residential developments at Te Arai (north of Auckland), Jack’s Point (outside Queenstown), and Glendhu Bay (near Wanaka).
Ted’s previous experience in early-stage venture capital fostered his interest in helping new businesses grow. He is passionate about sustainable investment, advocating for business models that combine environmental stewardship with financial returns. He currently serves as a director of several New Zealand businesses involved in native afforestation, carbon farming, and apiculture.
Ted is also dedicated to supporting underserved communities in New Zealand. He is a founding trustee of Acorn Autism Charitable Trust and Tikvah Charitable Trust. Ted lives in Auckland with his wife and three children.
