Ambassador Marcos Arbizu graduated with a Bachelor of International Relations from the University of Brasília and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil in 1990.
Mr. Arbizu has held a variety of positions, including serving as Head of Unit for the Division of Defence Affairs (2016), Director of the Department for Communication and Documentation (2016–2019), and Head of the Office of the Special Advisor on Federal and Congressional Affairs (2019–2021).
He has been posted previously to the Embassies of Brazil in Lisbon and Tokyo, as well as to the Delegation of Brazil to the Organization of American States in Washington.
In 2020, Mr. Arbizu was appointed Ambassador of Brazil to New Zealand, with cross-accreditation to the Independent State of Samoa, the Kingdom of Tonga, the Republic of Kiribati, and the Republic of Tuvalu. Ambassador Marcos Arbizu presented his credentials to the Governor-General of New Zealand in December 2021.
